April Sketch Challenge + Winner

Thanks to everyone who linked to the link party last month! Remember, this is a monthly tradition. At the end of the month, you can link any project you create that includes an SEI product. Sometimes there is a giveaway too. This is also the perfect time to share the layout you create for our sketch challenge.

Are you ready for another challenge? Julie created this layout sketch for our April challenge. So, to participate in this month's challenge, simply design a layout based on this sketch. Be sure to use at least one SEI product and link up at the end of the month.

This lovely layout is the one Julie based her sketch off. The 10.75 x 6 inch photo has a big impact, but you could also use the same grid with multiple photos in this spot.

Ready for the winner of our link party giveaway? As usual, we used random.org's random integer generator to pick... number 6!

Congratulations, Ann Jobes! Now just send us your e-mail to seiblog{at}shopsei{dot}com and we will get you your gift card.

Altered Frame + GIVEAWAY

Hello everyone!! It's Angela Ploegman a little sad, that it's my last post over here at SEI...but hopeful that my new friends will come visit me at my regular blogging home at Angela Ploegman Designs...

I any case, I definitely saved the best for last...here's the altered Inspirational frame I created with more SEI Couture papers!

This foiled, embossed chiffon paper was my absolute FAVORITE in the entire collection...it's so elegant and detailed and the gentle gradient of color from one side to the other was INSPIRING!...so I created an altered frame to hold inspirational quotes that I could easily change out when the need arose. The quote is printed on some of the patterned paper in the collection and embellished top and bottom with a bit of the shawl die cut lace paper. The Black Licorice Puffy Stickers are actually placed ON TOP of the glass, so they will always be there, even when I switch out the quote.

I have a new found love for crepe paper...the silver flower detail was formed from crepe paper that was punched on the outside edge with a scalloped border punch. I was then bunched and folded while adhering down to a punched circle base. Then it was embellished with some black bunched tulle, a silver flower and pearl gem. The purple embossed butterfly embellishment was double stacked on foam tape and finished with another couple of pearl gems...love the dimension this created on the butterfly.

Toodles all! It's been a blast this week, blogging for SEI!!

Thank you, Angela! It has been an inspiring week. We love the variety of projects and recipes you shared. Thank you for choosing to spend your week with us!

GIVEAWAY TIME! Would you like to win some of the brand new paper-crafting products from the Couture collection that Angela used this week? Then leave a comment on this post by Sunday, March 13th at midnight MST. Tell us which of Angela's posts was your favorite this week. The winner will be announced Monday so check back then.

Leah l'Orange, ready for takeoff! + GIVEAWAY

HELLOOOOOOOOO crafty friends! This is Leah l'Orange, bringing you my GRAND FINALE for my week of guest blogging at SEI Lifestyle! Thank you to the SEI team for inviting me to do this, and for taking such good care of me this week. It has TRULY been my pleasure to be here!

I mentioned earlier this week that I was asked if I'd like to play with the Kris Kringle collection for my guest blogging projects, and I was VERY excited about that, but I was when asked if there was another line I really liked, Jocelyn was the first that came to mind. I'd only ever seen the paper stack in our big box store, but I was disappointed I hadn't seen any embellishments. At any rate, I couldn't be more pleased with it now that I've had the opportunity to play with it! I decided to do something a little extra special with my Jocelyn stuff, and my tree was looking a little bare.....

So here is it NOW, half-decorated with my usual ribbons and a new batch of ornaments!

I altered some chipboard to cover it with my Jocelyn papers, then I busted out the UTEE and went to town. Honestly, that's ALL I had to do to create these cute little ornaments (I combined the UTEE with Versamark, and just did two layers on each side), poked the holes and threaded 'em all with silver string.

Here's what the TOP of the tree looks like right now:

And a couple of fuller shots to show you how they hang amidst the branches:

They're SO easy to make - the only thing that seems to take a while is the sanding for my clean edges. Besides that, as long as everything is handy, it's a snap!

This one's my favorite:

But my son likes this one best:

And a few close-ups...

What do you think? I love how the bold colors contrast so nicely against the white tree and everything just POPS! And I used up a bunch of chipboard - something with which I often struggle. This was a fun project for me, and my tree is going to look FABULOUS in another week, after I've made a couple DOZEN of these little ornaments! Here's the whole family together:

Before I sign off, I want to remind you that this is your final chance to comment and get in the running to win a 12x12 paper pad and the Glittering Romance die-cut pack from the gorgeous new With All My Heart line! Feel free to go back and comment on any of the posts since last Friday, and visit my blog, The Chronicles of Orange, on MONDAY, December 20th to find out who won!

Happy crafting, dear friends, and happiest holidays and warmest wishes to you and yours.

Love,
Leah, Kris and Jocelyn ;)
xo

Thanks, Leah! It has been a treat to have you. We love your excitement and great projects. Don't those ornaments look so fun to make?

Cards + GIVEAWAYS [CLOSED]

Hi! It's me, Kathy Martin, your guest blogger this week at SEI Lifestyle. Can you believe the week is already over? What a terrific week it's been too! Before I go, how about a couple more card shares and a giveaway?

Banners are hot, hot, hot right now and when I saw SEI's new Sticky Note assortment, I immediately thought they would make an adorable banner ! What do you think? They're so fun and easy to work with! Just like Post-It notes, only much prettier, they have a sticky back that you can remove from paper easily. They come in three sizes. I've used the smallest size here on my birthday card. I wish I had more guest blogging time because I have a great idea for using a lot of them on a scrapbook page for journaling! There's just not enough time in the day or week! ;)

For this next card, I used another product that I haven't used this week yet, the Moravia clear stamps and Chalk Ink Blocks. They coordinate beautifully with the rest of the Moonrise collection, don't you think? I used a couple of my favorite stamps for this card, cutting out the flowers and adhering them to my card with pop dots for texture. And there are those Dark Chocolate Puff Alphabet stickers again! I used many of those throughout the week! I don't think I have very many left! I love them!

Okay, now for the giveaway! If you would like a chance to win these two cards, leave a comment on my blog post for today. The winner will be drawn from the comments left and announced on my blog Saturday, 11/13/2010. Good luck to everyone! Wednesday's card winner was Penny Pastor of One of a Kind Albums. Congratulations Penny!

Well, that wraps up the week for me! I truly have enjoyed blogging and sharing my Moonrise collection projects with you! It's been awesome that so many of you have come by to visit and leave comments! Thank you! I hope I've made your visits worthwhile! Kathy :)

Moonrise Cards Giveaway [CLOSED]

Are we having fun yet? I am! :) It's been a blast blogging at SEI Lifestyle the past couple days and today I have something a little different to share...a couple of cards. The Moonrise collection that I've been creating with is such a fabulous line! I'm naturally drawn to the warm earthy colors. Plus, the accents are gorgeous! Well, let me show you...

Isn't this butterfly incredible? It's one of the Metal Filigree embellishments. Look at the detailing...beautiful, isn't it? I bent my butterfly's wings up just a tad before adding him to the card to create definition and make him look like he just landed. The quote is one of the Gleaming Pearl die cuts...love these! I've used another one on this next card.

The French quote translates to, "There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved." I created the framing with a couple Nestabilities die cut shapes and added two tiny felt flowers. Have you noticed all the stitching on my projects so far? I'm one of those who has a hard time calling a project done until there's some stitch work! If I don't have time to stitching the entire length around a piece of paper, just add an inch or so of zigzag stitching in a couple places as shown on the card above. You get the same lovely detailing in a fraction of the time!

How about a giveaway? Would you like to win these two cards? Leave a comment today by midnight on this post and a comment over at my blog and I will randomly select a winner.

I hope you enjoyed your visit to SEI Lifestyle today! I have more up my sleeves for tomorrow so come back and 'see' me! Until then, make it a good one! :) Kathy

Monst(e)rous Frame + Giveaway [CLOSED]

Today is my final day with you as a Guest Designer and I have saved my favorite project for last! I found this little wood frame on clearance and immediately thought of the Monsterville Monster Mash paper! My intentions were to cover the frame with the monster covered paper and add in a cute photo and put it in my son's room...note I said "intentions"!

I began by tracing the frame base on the back of the Monster Mash paper and then I centered the frame stand backing and traced again, cutting out the frame and the center. The frame stand backing is typically larger than the window which allowed me to add a black mat.

Then I adhered my Monster Mash paper to the wood frame and covered with several coats of Mod Podge. I used the inside cut of the frame inside the window, so the paper patterns line up. This was going to be the photo mat...but as I finished up this project I realized that I love it just the way it is!

Currently this frame is sitting in my art room, where it will remain until my son (my #1 fan) talks me into allowing him to have it for his room! :)
I have had so much fun sharing my projects and want to give a big "thank you" to SEI for having me!

keep creating...Jamie

Don't worry you don't have to say "good-bye" to Jamie forever because you can hop over to her blog, Bits of Paper, anytime. Isn't she a delight? We have really enjoyed having her this week and loved all of the creative ideas she shared. Thank you, Jamie!!

We will announce the winner Monday. Be sure to check back to see if you are the winner because if we don't hear from the winner within a week we will pick a new one.

Although the giveaway is now closed, we are sure Jamie would still love to hear what you think. Feel free to continue leaving comments on this post.
