Love Birds + Winner

Caroline made these projects with the With All My Heart Collection. We love all the layering of embellishments she did. She made them in several groupings, which helps it stay organized and keep the focus where it should be.

Ready for the CSN Stores giveaway winner? We used random.org to choose #49!

Congratulations, Dana! Send us an e-mail at seiblog{at}shopsei{dot}com and we will send you your $65 gift code.

Valentine's Basket

Lisa decided to break away from the traditional pink and red Valentine's colors for a happy spin on the holiday. She mixed two of our most cheerful collections, Corinne and Happy Day for this sweet gift basket.

One of the best things about this project is it could be used for a child or girlfriend since it's not too "lovey". We hope Lisa inspired you to think about non-traditional Valentine's colors and papers in a new way.

Now for the moment you've all been waiting for... The winner of the giveaway as selected by random.org is...

Number #10, ERICA HETTWER! Congratulations! Please send your address to seiblog{at}shopsei{dot}com to claim your prize.

Thanks for playing, everyone and Happy Valentine's Day!

1 Embellishment, 3 Ways!

Happy Tuesday! I'm back today to share a few more Valentine projects with you! To create all three of these projects, I started with the same little embellishment. I used circle punches, (scalloped and smooth,) to create some quick little cuties using With All My Heart paper. I stuck the layers together using foam tape, and then I got to work on my projects.

First I created cupcake toppers. I was going to glue the toothpicks to the circles, but I realized I could stick the toothpick right into the foam tape. It held together well enough, and it was quick and simple. (I LOVE quick and simple!)

Using another of the same little embellishments, I created a clean and simple card. I added some die-cuts, a sentiment stamp, and other little goodies to bring this card together. If you haven't noticed, clean and simple is definitely a style I gravitate towards! Finding a balance between white space with color and pattern is definitely a challenge I love!

Next I created a tiny gift box. I LOVE to print out templates online, and use them for paper-crafts. If you Google "printable box template" (or some more particular description) you'll find tons of free or low cost patterns that you can use over and over again. I trimmed a piece of 12x12 paper, down to 8.5x11 and I stuck it in the printer. I printed the template on the underneath side of the paper, so my lines would be neatly tucked inside. I added a piece of ribbon, one of my handmade embellishments, and TA-DA!

Making your own embellishments is a great way to use up scraps, and it can be a great timesaver. If you only have a few minutes to create, make a few little goodies, and then the next time you sit down to play, you'll have embellishments all ready to go!

Will you join me again tomorrow? It's going to be a paper-free day on the SEI blog, but I promise it will be worth it. Instead of paper, we're going to talk about another of my favorite things. . . .CAKE! (I'm even going to share one of my all-time favorite recipes!) See you then!!! XOXO Laura

Sketchy Valentine Cards

Is it really Monday?! And is it really 2011? It seems that just when we've barely caught up from Christmas and New Years, suddenly Valentine's Day is upon us! I thought I'd share some pretty simple and cute Valentines with you today. I used With All My Heart, plus a few little bits of the new Corinne collection on these cards. Many of the colors in these two collections work quite nicely together! To jumpstart my creations, I used a card sketch - the same sketch, for all three of these cards. Notice the similarities? This sketch was created by Tami Mayberry, at the Card Positioning Systems blog. (Stop by the CPS blog to see the sketch I used, being featured this week!) There are lots of weekly sketch blogs out there, and if you've never tried using a sketch, I recommend it! The possibilities are endless really. Sometimes the cards I create start out looking like the sketch - but end up looking nothing like it! And sometimes I stick pretty closely to the sketch. There's no right or wrong way to do it. I think that's what I love about it!

Tomorrow I'll be right back here, so I hope you'll stop in to visit with me. I have a few more Valentine projects to share (and one of them involves chocolate!) Then, later in the week I cannot WAIT to share some projects featuring the brand new Corinne collection! See you tomorrow! XOXO Laura

Heart Garland Tutorial

Audrey made this Valentine's heart garland and created a tutorial so you can make one too. In fact, hop over to her blog, Audrey's Reflection a little later today and you could even win some All My Heart goodies like she used to make it with by entering her giveaway.

Here is her tutorial...
1. To create TWO hearts, you need SEVEN 1”x12” pieces of paper. The instructions below are for creating one heart. Use your remaining pieces to create the 2nd one.

2. Cut FOUR of your 7 strips into 4” and 8” lengths. (This creates four 4” pieces and four 8” pieces.)

3. Cut the remaining 3 strips into 6” pieces, giving you 6, 6” pieces total.

4. Align 7 of your pieces in the following order (for one heart), 8”, 6”, 4”, 6”, 4”, 6”, 8” .

5. Using a quick dry glue, apply a thin line of adhesive to the bottom edge of the first 4 strips and glue them together, all facing the same direction.

6. For your remaining three strips, make sure they are facing OPPOSITE of your first four strips. Add these three to your other four strips. All 7 strips will now be glue together at the bottom.

7. Starting on the left side with the 8” strip, glue the top of the 8” strip to the top of the 6” strip next to it, and then glue these strips to the 4” strip.

8. Repeat on the right hand side, leaving the middle 6” strip unattached to either side.

9. Fold the tops of the glued strips in and curve them to make a heart shape. Glue to the center 6” strip, about 2” up from the bottom. Repeat on the other side.

10. You now have one complete heart! Use your remaining strips to make another one!

11. Punch a hole in the top of the center strip on each heart to thread some ribbon through. (Note: I ended up trimming the middle strip down to about 5 inches.) String your heart along some ribbon and hang to enjoy!

Decorate for Valentine's Day!

It's almost February and Valentine's Day will be here before you know it. You don't have to spend a lot on decor to make it fun and personal. Kate has two great ideas for you.

First, aren't these Valentine's garlands beautiful? They could be hung just about anywhere!

Kate made them by cutting several circles out of papers from the With All My Heart collection. Then she folded them in half and adhered each one to half of another circle, while stringing them along.

For her next idea, Kate used paper clips to hang some of her favorite photos, love quotes, and heart accents from a wire.

The garland strung along the wire, is the perfect finishing touch, don't you agree? How do you decorate for Valentine's Day?

Valentine Treat Bags

Happy Thursday! Jill Cornell here with you again today to share a fun project in honor of Valentine's Day. I have the world's worst sweet tooth, and I know I would love to receive some sweets this year! A fun way to give something sweet to your sweetheart is by placing the treat in a bag and making a topper for the bag. I used the "With All My Heart" collection on this set of three treat bags.

I used the 6 x 6 paper pad from the collection as well as the die-cut accents with glitter plus a few ribbons, buttons and baker's twine from my stash.

To make the treat bags, follow these simple directions:

1) Measure patterned paper to approximately 4" x 6" and fold it in half. Ink the edges.
2) Sandwich the bag in between the open end and zig zag stitch to close.
3) Punch holes at the top of the bag and thread with ribbon and tie in bow.
4) Decorate with assorted die-cuts, buttons, and twine.

Here are a few close-ups of each bag...

Thanks for looking today! I'll see you tomorrow for my grand finale! :)

Valentine's Gift Baskets

Club SEI's January kit features the lovely With All My Heart collection. Click here to see what club members can make with this kit. You will fall in love with these adorable projects! If you aren't a club member, you can still sign-up.

Each kit comes with tons of great product and projects. But since Club SEI is so amazing they also sweeten the deal with free click-n-prints for club members. We decided to show you some Valentine's gift baskets we put together using January's click-n-prints.

How about one for that guy who is so hard to buy for? Just fill it with his favorite things!

Maybe you need to get something for your mother or girlfriend. It's easy to find things to fill this basket. Look for things she can use to pamper herself.

Don't forget those kiddos! Go to the dollar store and find some fun toys. Our coloring books weren't the cutest so we wrapped them with papers from the kit. Problem solved.

Happy 3rd Thursday!

Inviting Claire to Breakfast + Giveaway

SEI paper is so yummy. I am in love with the Claire collection in particular. Some papers are cozy and quilted, others have a glitzy sheen, some are tiny polite patterns, others big easy florals. It's sensory heaven. So much paper pleasure all in the same pack.

And so in honor of this yummy paper experience, I put together a little breakfast banquet for you, starring SEI's Claire collection. And if you have a few pages of SEI, and a few eggs in the fridge (or in the coop!), maybe you'll consider having your own banquet this Sunday morning.

there's nothing like a softboiled egg and the morning paper (okay, I don't get the paper, how about the morning Google Reader feed?)

the claw footed egg (i did this with just the regular stock, for Sunday I'll be mounting the paper on chipboard)

napkin rings can slide off and double as jewelry

who says cupcakes have to have all the fun? muffins deserve some love too.

granola for the road

Thanks for having me, SEI. It's been an honor. And a happy Valentines day weekend to everyone.

Cupid's Arrow

Here's a sweet little way to show your friends and family you love them.

Cut out some hearts and arrow "feathers" (you can use our pattern; below). We used lovebirds for them.

String on your marshmallow peeps or whatever treat you want!

Fold your hearts and feathers on the dotted line, attach using some double sided tape, and voila! An adorable, easy project.
