Yay! It's time to introduce our guest blogger, Kathy Martin. We just know you are going to love her paper-crafting creations. Do you want to get to know her a little better and see some of her projects? Just read her intro below and stop by her blog Card-Blanc. Then come back every day next week for something new and a giveaway.
Hi! Guess what? I get to hang out with you next week as a guest designer here on SEI Lifestyle! I think that's pretty cool and hopefully you will too when you see the projects I have to share with you!
First a little bit about myself. My name is Kathy Martin and I live in North Carolina with my husband of 18 years, Dan, and our nine year old son, Christopher. I'm absolutely wild about paper crafting! I'm one of those people who has always enjoyed some type of craft from my childhood on. I also love spending time searching for antique treasures, reading, decorating, cooking and baking. I relish a good cup of coffee, gourmet sweets and an afternoon cat nap. I'm also passionate about protecting our planet, advocating for autism and animals.
Some of you may know me from Two Peas in a Bucket. I've been a member for the past seven years and I'm pretty active on the site. I am one of the Digital Designers at Two Peas. My product is Digital Doodles stamps that are created from my hand drawings. I'm also a Creative Team Member at Two Peas in Bucket which is like a design team member for their digital side.
As if I have all the time in the world, I also have an Etsy shop that opened in August of 2007 and currently has over 8,800 transactions. I enjoy selling some of my crafty creations as well as oodles of scrapbook supplies! Like many paper crafters, I'm addicted to supplies and buy way more than I can possibly use so occasionally I have to clean house and sell some of it! And then I go buy more! It's a vicious cycle! ;)
Well, that's enough about me! How about a crafty share? I got to play with the new Moonrise collection and I am smitten! I can't get enough of these rich colors and beautiful patterns! They are a perfect match for my autumn crafts and photos! The photo I used for the following page is of my son and I at our annual visit to the pumpkin patch at Hill Ridge Farms.
For this page I used four of the patterned papers and one of the coordinating solids from the Moonrise line. I used the 'Luminous' patterned paper and Silhouette die cutter for the title. From the 'Opulence' floral paper I used one of the large flowers as a template for my hand stitched accent.
To create the hand stitched flower, I picked out a full size flower from the paper and layed it over the 'Bark' card stock. Then with an awl I pierced holes along the outline of the flower. Once I was done, I removed my patterned paper to see a perfect outline of the flower for stitching.
For my hidden journaling tag, I used one of the card stock stickers from the 'Family' pack for the top of my tag. Centered in the middle of the sticker is a flower that made for the perfect place to attach a brad and string used for pulling the journaling card out. Two other card stock stickers were also used, the one along the right hand side of the photo with the phrase 'Family Love' and the little round flower at the bottom right hand corner of the photo.
So, that's my first share. I hope you like it and feel inspired to do a little hand stitching on your next project! Come back on Monday to see some more creations with the Moonrise collection! Until then, have yourself a wonderful weekend! :) Kathy
